A look at the history books shows that only nine other writers who adapted their own plays have received a WGA nomination for doing so since 1985. On Friday, when the Writers Guild of America announced its nominees for the 66th WGA Awards, it awarded Tracy Letts with a best adapted screenplay nom for August: Osage County, which he adapted from his Pulitzer Prize and Tony-winning play.
